FyterTech Solutions for Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO)
At Fytertech, we understand the critical role that Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) play in keeping industries running smoothly. MRO covers the processes and resources required to maintain, repair, and optimise the machinery, tools, and systems that form the backbone of your operations. Our safety solutions are designed to ensure that your MRO efforts are efficient, effective, and environmentally responsible.
Why MRO is Critical for Operational Efficiency
Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) are essential for any business that depends on machinery or industrial systems. Proper MRO practices can prevent costly downtime, extend equipment lifespan, and enhance overall productivity. When MRO is managed effectively, businesses can avoid unexpected repairs, reduce safety incidents, and lower operational costs.
Routine maintenance prevents costly breakdowns and ensures compliance with safety regulations, while timely repairs ensure machinery runs at peak performance.
White coloured absorbents are oil-only and will absorb just oil-based fluids. These are perfect for just recovering oil-based fluids when water is present at the same time, as the absorbent will not take up any water-based fluids. For recovering oil-based spills on large bodies of water, oil-only products are the only choice.
Maintenance absorbents (sometimes referred to as universal) are grey and/or black and will absorb both oil-based and water-based fluids at the same time. These can be used indoors or outdoors but will take up a lot of water-based fluids at the same time as oil-based fluids.

Spill Control solutions for planned maintenance
To collect and recover fluids that leak or spill from machinery that are planned for, or expected, there are a range of absorbent spill products available.
Spill Absorbent Pads are ideal for wiping machinery or equipment. Laminated pads are the strongest, bonded pads feature sonic bond points. Both laminated and bonded pads feature perforations so that just the right amount of absorbent can be used.
Spill Absorbent Rolls of absorbent with a laminated layer can be placed alongside machinery and will accept foot traffic and in some cases wheeled traffic. They prevent slips and trips by 'drawing up' fluids from hard surfaces. These products also feature perforations so that the correct amount can easily be torn-off.
Spill Absorbent Socks are long flexible tubes of absorbent that can be placed on a surface to surround and prevent spills or leaks from spreading whilst also absorbing the fluid. These are available in different lengths.
Spill Absorbent Pillows are perfect for placing under machinery or equipment to recover spills or leaks that are too large for a pad and also have the added bonus of not having to be replaced as frequently. They can also be easily placed into hard to reach spaces.
Drum Tops sit inside the rim of a standard oil-drum and capture spills involved in transferring fluids.
Spill Depot absorbent dispensers keep the absorbents stored and ready for use on machinery or equipment that requires regular liquid spill control. These can be regularly replenished to ensure absorbents are always at hand. Available in a range of sizes and either wall-mounted or free-standing formats ensures there will be a configuration suitable for any business’s requirements.
Spill Control Secondary Containment storage and handling equipment or storing fluids ready for use in planned maintenance ensures fluids are handled safely. They also ensure any spills or leaks are prevented from escaping into the drains by the self-contained sump capacity.
Recovering unplanned spills or leaks
Unplanned spills and leaks can disrupt operations, compromise safety, and harm the environment. That's why it's crucial to have the right safety solutions in place, enabling a quick and effective response when an incident occurs. A well-stocked and strategically positioned spill kit can provide the absorbents and containers necessary to manage and recover spills efficiently, minimising downtime and reducing the risk of further complications.
Types of Spill Kits for Effective Spill Recovery
Portable Spill Kits: Portable spill kits are designed for rapid deployment, providing the necessary absorbents to quickly respond to spills or leaks. These kits come in a variety of sizes, up to 50 litres, and are available in Oil-only and Maintenance types. The Oil-only kits are perfect for oil-based spills, while the Maintenance kits can handle a broader range of liquids, including water-based substances and chemicals.
Static Spill Kits: Static spill kits are best used in areas where spills are more likely to occur, offering pre-emptive protection against the risks associated with liquid hazards. These kits come in an 80-litre capacity, available in both Oil-only and Maintenance types, and are designed to remain stationary in high-risk areas, such as storage rooms or near machinery.
Wheeled Spill Kits: For larger spills, wheeled spill kits are an essential part of your emergency response. Ranging from 120 litres to 1,000 litres, these highly maneuverable kits can be transported to the spill site quickly, even in larger or more challenging environments. Available in both Oil-only and Maintenance types, wheeled spill kits are ideal for handling significant spills, offering ample absorbents to manage larger quantities of liquid safely and efficiently.
The cost of slips and trips
31% of workplace accidents involve slips, trips or falls. This comes at a cost of around £512m a year to UK industry and businesses. These devastating costs to both individuals and to businesses is the reason why having a liquid safety solution is so important. Contact us today for more information.
The law from the HSE
The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HSWA)
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requires employers to ensure the health and safety of all employees and anyone affected by their work, so far as is reasonably practicable, which means balancing the level of risk against the measures needed to control the risk in terms of money, time or trouble. This includes taking steps to control slip and trip risks.
Employees have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others and must use any safety equipment provided.
Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (Regulation 3)
Build on the HSWA and include duties on employers to assess risks (including slip and trip risks) and take action where necessary.
Management of health and safety at work
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 (Regulation 12)
Require floors to be suitable, in good condition and free from obstructions. People should be able to move around safely.

Site Surveys and Spill Recovery training
To help you identify spill and leak risks we can provide a site survey. An experienced and highly knowledgeable member of our team will attend your premises and provide a written report identifying the risks. Along with the risk identification, a suggestions of liquid safety solutions will be suggested.
To allow a business’s employees to better respond to a spill we provide spill training to ensure that in the event of a spill everybody knows how to safely respond and follow a set procedure.
