Breaking Barriers and Building Teams: A Day in the Life of Luz T. at FyterTech
Today, we shine a light on Luz T., a valued member of the FyterTech team for three years, whose journey offers inspiring insights into working in the industry.
Finding Her Place at FyterTech
Luz joined FyterTech through a friend's recommendation, drawn by the company's ability to accommodate her specific scheduling needs. Luz works in the manufacturing plant as a production assistant and has a diverse role. Her daily routine involves assessing the day's production requirements, whether it's starting on specific products like sorbent pads, cleaning the line, or assisting colleagues in other areas when making meltblown rolls.
The Power of People and Teamwork
What truly stands out for Luz in her manufacturing role as a production assistant is the positive work environment. She cherishes her co-workers and the calm atmosphere, noting the absence of drama. Communication and teamwork have been key elements to her success, especially within her three-person line team. She emphasizes that strong communication is key to their collaborative efforts. Furthermore, Luz takes pride in being a go-to person, enjoying the opportunity to help new colleagues and share her knowledge.
Uncovering Hidden Strengths
Before joining FyterTech, Luz admits she was apprehensive about entering a new field and not knowing the materials or products. However, she quickly discovered her aptitude for learning new systems and utilizing various tools. This experience taught her about her own capabilities, and that learning this new industry was easier than expected, and now it comes to her naturally as a team expert.
Advice for Women in Manufacturing
When asked what advice she would give to other women considering a career in manufacturing, Luz's message is clear and empowering: "Don't be scared to come into a male-centered job." She acknowledges that it can be intimidating to enter a new, especially male-dominated, environment, but encourages women not to let fear hold them back from trying.
Luz's story is a testament to the rewarding experiences and personal growth that can be found in the manufacturing sector, especially when supported by a strong team and a positive work culture, even when faced with starting in a new industry that is unknown.
