From Healthcare in Ukraine to Manufacturing in the U.S.: Vira D's Journey at FyterTech
Meet Vira D., a remarkable individual whose journey embodies adaptability, resilience, and the power of communication. Having spent two decades working in a hospital in Ukraine, Vira made a significant career and life transition, now thriving in the manufacturing environment at FyterTech for the past three years.
A New Chapter in Manufacturing
Vira's workday at FyterTech begins early, around 6:00 a.m., where her routine involves ensuring her workspace is clean and ready before diving into her tasks. She has always had this meticulous approach in her past roles in hospitals and has brought it across her career, reflecting her dedication and commitment in everything she does.
What stands out most for Vira at FyterTech is the supportive and patient environment. She deeply appreciates her American colleagues, noting their patience and willingness to help her understand processes, often translating work instructions and communications in her native language to eliminate barriers. This cultural support has been instrumental in her successful adaptation to a new industry and country.
Developing New Skills and Finding Pride
When asked about what makes her proud or what she enjoys most, Vira highlights several aspects: the bonuses she receives, the favorable work schedule, the praise from her bosses for good work, and even the anniversary cards. Vira was recently celebrated at the annual Christmas Party for perfect attendance, making her stand out as a dedicated employee. These elements collectively contribute to her job satisfaction and sense of recognition.
Advice for Women in Manufacturing
Vira's message to other women considering a career in manufacturing, especially those from different cultural backgrounds, is clear and empowering: 'be communicative and open'. She emphasizes that while learning a new language is important, the willingness to communicate, ask for help, and engage with others is paramount. This interpersonal initiative, she believes, makes the transition and daily work, and a new country and culture much smoother.
Vira's story is a testament to embracing change when uncertain times come your way, the importance of a supportive workplace, and the universal value of communication in achieving success. Her journey at FyterTech is an inspiring example of how a workplace can be more than just a job; it can be a valuable resource to help you embrace a new life and feel welcome when faced with so many other uncertainties.
