UK-Manufactured Meltblown Absorbents for Spill Control

UK-Manufactured Meltblown Absorbents for Spill Control

What Are Meltblown Absorbents?

UK- Manaufactured Meltblown Absorbents

Meltblown absorbents are a reliable choice for effective spill control, and at FyterTech Nonwovens UK, we manufacture high-quality meltblown polypropylene absorbents right here in the UK.

Made from 100% polypropylene, meltblown absorbents are created through a process where the polymer is melted and then ‘blown’ into fine fibres using high-pressure air. This forms a non-woven material with a high-loft structure, which offers:

·         Excellent absorbency rates

·         Strong durability

·         Resistance to heat and tearing

Types of Meltblown Absorbents

To suit different spill environments and fluid types, we offer three main types of meltblown absorbents:

Oil-Only Meltblown Absorbents

Designed specifically for oil-based spills, especially on water surfaces. Hydrophobic, they repel water while attracting and absorbing oils. Ideal for marine, offshore, and industrial oil spill clean-up.

Maintenance (Universal) Meltblown Absorbents

Absorb both oil- and water-based fluids. Hydrophilic, these absorbents are versatile and suitable for everyday spills in workshops, factories, and warehouses.

Chemical Meltblown  Absorbents

Function like maintenance absorbents but are bright yellow for high visibility and safety. Suitable for containing and cleaning up hazardous or unknown chemical spills.

Laminated vs Bonded Meltblown Absorbents: What’s the Difference?

Bonded Meltblown Absorbents Made in the UK

Bonded meltblown absorbents offer high performance and durability for managing oil and liquid spills across various industrial environments. Manufactured from single-layer meltblown polypropylene fibres, these absorbents are enhanced with sonic bond points to improve strength and reduce fibre shedding.

What Are Bonded Meltblown Absorbents?

Bonded absorbents are made from a single layer of meltblown polypropylene with bonded points that:

·         Prevent loose fibres from detaching

·         Enhance durability and structure

·         Improve product handling and reduce mess

This type of absorbent is suitable for both oil-based and water-based fluids, making it a perfect choice for many sectors.

Key Features of Bonded Meltblown Absorbents

·         Perforated pads and rolls for easy tear-off and reduced waste

·         Available in various weights (light and medium) to suit different spill volumes

·         White Oil-Only absorbents target oil spills and repel water

·         Grey Maintenance absorbents handle both oil and water-based liquids

·         Drum top pads available for spill containment at the source

·         Sold in packs of 100 or 200 pads, or 25 drum top pads

Meltblown Single Laminate Absorbents

Single laminate absorbents combine the high absorbency of meltblown polypropylene with the added strength of a spunbond top layer, creating a high-performance solution for spill control.

This laminated construction offers:

·         A meltblown core for fast fluid uptake

·         A spunbond outer layer for enhanced durability and reduced linting

The result? A highly absorbent, tear-resistant material that performs reliably in demanding conditions.

Key Features of Laminate Absorbents

·         Superior strength from spunbond lamination

·         High absorbency due to meltblown polypropylene core

·         Perforated pads and rolls for efficient, cost-effective use

Available in light, medium, and heavy weights to suit different spill sizes and handling preferences

Choosing UK manufactured single laminate absorbents

·         Improved strength and safety during clean-up

·         Lower product waste through perforated design

·         A more professional, clean application with reduced linting

·         Consistent performance across oil-only, maintenance, and chemical use cases
